The departing Director-General of the BBC, Tim Davie, will come to Nordic Media Days!

Tim Davie will share his reflections on media trust, public broadcasting, and leadership challenges at Nordic Media Days in Bergen this May.

Davie announced in November that he would step down after several years as the top executive of the British public broadcaster. The decision came after the BBC was accused of bias in its coverage of President Donald Trump in connection with a documentary in the series “Panorama.” The editing of a clip from a speech by U.S. President Donald Trump sparked strong criticism. Davie himself took responsibility for the mistakes and announced that he would resign.

Davie’s last day as BBC chief will be in April – and just a few weeks later he will be on stage at Nordic Media Days.

“Tim Davie has led the BBC during a period marked by political pressure, technological transformation, and intense debate about trust in the media. We look forward to hearing his reflections on what happened and what he believes the future holds for public service broadcasters,” says program editor Vivi Stenberg.

On stage in Bergen, Davie will talk about what happened behind the scenes at the BBC, why he chose to step down, and how public service broadcasters can maintain the public’s trust in an increasingly polarized media landscape.
