On 10 May 2026, Abdullah Ibhais was held at Queen Alia International Airport after participating in the Nordic Media Days in Bergen, Norway. His passport was confiscated, and he was later summoned for questioning by Jordanian security authorities.

We support the Human Rights Foundation (HRF)’s call for Abdullah Ibhais, a whistleblower connected to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, to be granted the freedom to travel and participate in the Oslo Freedom Forum on 1–3 June 2026.

HRF states that the case raises serious questions about freedom of expression and the protection of whistleblowers, and urges Jordan to ensure that Ibhais can travel and continue his work without pressure or reprisals.
