Kara Swisher has covered Silicon Valley for more than three decades, delivering uncompromising journalism at the intersection of technology, media, and politics. Today, she is editor-at-large at New York Magazine, a CNN commentator, and host of the influential podcasts On with Kara Swisher and Pivot with Scott Galloway. Swisher made her mark early as a tech journalist at The Wall Street Journal and later at All Things Digital with Walt Mossberg, where they put technology into context and were early in predicting the future of media. She has also worked for The New York Times and Recode.

Kara is a strong advocate for holding large technology companies accountable for the content published on their platforms and warns that they operate almost with impunity. She is also highly critical of how tech giants have become a political power base for right-wing forces, frequently directing her criticism at national and international decision-makers. According to Swisher, a lack of regulation and legislation fuels misinformation, conspiracy theories, and poses serious challenges to editor-led media and national security.
