Partners in responsibility: How YouTube and the news industry work together

Open sources-investigations has contributed to some of the most significant revelations in Norwegian and international media in recent years. The New York Times Visual Investigations Team has led the way as industry innovators in this field since it was established in 2017.
The editorial team has since inspired journalists worldwide and won numerous awards for its in-depth work, including four Pulitzer Prizes.
Haley Willis is one of the team's most experienced journalists. At NMD she will provide us with a thorough insight into how she and her colleagues combine advanced open-source/forensic methodologies with more traditional journalistic approaches in large-scale projects. Recent examples from the NYT Visuals Investigations include mapping and verifying incidents during the October 7 terrorism attack in Israel and analysing Israel's bombing of Gaza.
In this hands-on session, Haley will demonstrate how to map, archive, and verify digital evidence step by step. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn more about verification and how open sources can be used more systematically to create world-class investigative journalism.
