Alex Gibney and the Power of Documentaries

  • Dokumentar

In this session, you’ll meet one of the most influential storytellers of our time, Academy Award-winning documentarian Alex Gibney. Recently, he was honored with an Emmy’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contributions to the documentary genre.

With an impressive range that spans hard-hitting political exposés to deep-dives into pop culture, Gibney has created thought-provoking and insightful films such as "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room", "Taxi to the Dark Side", "Forever Prisoner", and "Wise Guy: David Chase and the Sopranos".

At the Nordic Media Days, Gibney will deliver unique insight into his methods. He will share what drives him to shed light on abuses of power and uncover hidden truths, while balancing journalistic integrity with artistic ambition.

Gibney produced the recently released "The Bibi Files", a film based on leaked recordings from police interrogations of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his family, and close associates regarding corruption charges. The film has garnered significant international attention and is shortlisted for this year’s Academy Award for Best Documentary.

This year will see the release of two highly anticipated projects from the producer and filmmaker: "Musk", a film investigating Elon Musk and the tentatively titled "Knife", inspired by Salman Rushdie’s memoir "Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder".

As the founder of the renowned production company Jigsaw, Gibney has devoted his career to challenging established narratives, exposing abuses of power, and highlighting complex stories that both inspire and engage.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear directly from the master documentarist Alex Gibney!
