Work from home: A comfortable curse?

What does work look like, after the pandemic? Are we all sick and tired of working from home, or will a constant migration from the kitchen table to the coffee machine at work be the new normal? And do we really grasp the consequences of hybrid work? When are you not at work, when your workplace is always right there by you? How can you show your boss that you are really working, when you’re out of sight? And when does the work day end?

Even before the pandemic many were worried about burnout. It’s normal in the media industry to give your colleagues and the rest of the world a little peek into your work day on social media. Will we have to do even more performative work for Instagram or Twitter in the future to assure everyone that we’re actually working?

The American journalist Anne Helen Petersen writes the Substack newsletter Culture Study, and has written the books Out of Office: The Big Problem and Bigger Promise of Working From Home and Can’t Even: How Millennials Became the Burnout Generation. She’s coming to Bergen to give her insights into how work will be in the coming years.

And how does this translate into a Norwegian context? We’ll hear from Mette Krogsrud, EVP/Chief People & Corporate Affairs Officer i Schibsted, Winta Negassi, Vice President People and Culture Discovery Networks, and Dag Idar Tryggestad, head of The Norwegian Union of Journalists in a conversation led by Sun Heidi Sæbø, editor in chief and CEO of Morgenbladet.
