«Squid Games – The Challenge»: Behind the scenes of the world's largest reality production

When the news broke that Netflix would turn the dystopian South Korean drama «Squid Game» into a reality competition, it was no surprise that Stephen Lambert and his Studio Lambert were chosen to produce the series.

Stephen is one of the real giants in reality- and documentary production. His production company has developed several international hit formats such as «Undercover Boss», «Gogglebox,» and «Naked Attraction». Recently, Studio Lambert has also produced both the British and American versions of the ratings success, «Traitor».

So where do you start when creating a reality series which involves 456 contestants from around the world? How do you approach being responsible for the largest prize pool in reality-television history of 4.56 million dollars? What was it like collaborating with the highly praised director Hwang Dong-hyuk on his magnum opus? And how do you transform one of the visually most unique and brutal TV universes into sets that serve as a playground for real-life participants?
